Happy July! This month is all about eating clean, shedding a few of those last bathing suit pounds and working toward a firmer, slimmer, healthier body. During the summer we are all more conscious of our bodies because we are wearing less clothing. Our beautiful Michigan summers allow us to get outdoors, move more and appreciate Nature. To make the most of summer and maximize your time, keep some frozen fruit in the freezer: Combine strawberries, blueberries and or pineapple with a liquid like almond or cashew milk. Throw in a little healthy fat (flax seed oil or coconut oil) and you have a healthy smoothie that will assist in burning off those extra pounds while feeding your muscles and body. Try the Peach Smoothie below.
1 c almond milk 1 c frozen unsweetened peaches 2 tsp. cold-pressed organic flax seed oil Blend milk and peaches for 1 minute. Transfer to glass and stir in flax seed oil. Nutrition(per serving) - 213 cal, 9 g pro, 26 g carb, 2 g fiber, 22 g sugar, 9 g fat, 1 g sat fat, 103 mg sodium.

Yoga is known as a stress buster, but it's also one of the most effective workouts for fighting stubborn fat stores, especially the ones that crop up after age 40. Sit with knees bent, feet on floor, hands on thighs. With torso straight and head in line with body, lean back about 45 degrees, raising feet so calves are parallel to floor, toes pointed. On an inhale, extend arms and legs, keeping legs together. Exhale and as you inhale, lower torso and legs 3 to 4 inches so body forms a wider V shape. Exhale and raise torso and legs. Repeat 3 to 5 times.
Stand with feet together, arms at sides. Place sole of left foot on inside of right thigh, knee bent to side. Touch palms in front of chest for 2 breaths. On third inhale, extend arms up, fingertips toward ceiling. Exhale and bend torso to left. Inhale and straighten. Repeat 3 to 5 times, pressing foot into thigh; switch sides.
